Brand Feature: Jenna Gordon Photography

Hey friends! I’m so excited to share this branding project with you today! When Jenna Gordon reached out to me about redesigning the branding for her photography business, I literally did a happy dance. Jenna was actually my (freaking awesome) wedding photographer, so obviously I was thrilled to work with her again – but this time with the roles reversed! I knew first hand just how amazing she is at capturing the moments that matter, so I couldn’t wait to create the custom strategic branding package of her dreams so she could feel completely confident in every visual element of her brand.

Jenna’s goal was to create a visual identity that would attract her ideal clients – adventure-lovin,’ free-spirited people who value real moments over posed perfection. She was already doing work she loved, but needed branding that would help her consistently attract her dream client. Take a look below to see the final product and get a peek inside the process it took to bring Jenna’s vision to life!

MOOD BOARD

After our initial design consultation and analyzing Jenna’s inspiration board on Pinterest, I was immediately obsessed. Her personal style is SO similar to mine, so this mood board came together easily and was extra fun (warm neutrals are my fave!)

Jenna loves plants and the outdoors, so I knew from the beginning that I wanted to incorporate some kind of hand-drawn greenery to add a human touch to the brand. I also wanted to include a loose hand-lettered font to bring warmth and personality and combine it with a clean sans serif to mirror her modern photography style. We wanted her brand to accurately represent not only her as a business owner, but also the warmth and genuine connection with which she serves her clients.

THE LOGO DESIGN

This logo was so much fun to put together. I ended up creating like 8 or 9 designs because there were just so many beautiful possibilities! With each design, I knew I wanted to incorporate a custom hand-drawn font to add texture and personality to the brand.

For the primary logo, Jenna ended up choosing this beautiful and clean look. I love how the circle adds a modern element with a subtle nod to a camera lens. Once we decided on a primary logo, we added in the secondary logos, signature, and brand marks to pull it all together. The clean shapes combined with the looser hand-drawn elements work so well together to appeal to Jenna’s modern, outdoorsy dream clients.

I seriously loved putting this brand together, and have loved watching Jenna use her new branding elements to grow organically and attract her dream clients!
