How to Launch a New Brand Identity in 7 Days

So you want to launch a new brand identity, but you want to do it fast. Maybe you’re on a tight schedule and needed to rebrand yesterday, or you just don’t have the capacity or energy to dedicate weeks to an in-depth design process. Hey, I’ve been there!

Whatever your reason, it’s possible to launch an entirely new brand identity in 7 days! With planning and dedication, your business can look completely different in just one week. This step-by-step guide will walk you through exactly how to do it.

Are you ready?

Step 1: Create Your New Brand Identity

To state the obvious, before you launch a new brand identity, you have to actually create it! This includes more than just a logo – you’ll need all the basics to get started.

At a minimum, this includes:

  • Primary logo
  • Secondary logo
  • Icon or submark
  • Color palette
  • Brand font pairings

You’ll also want to make sure your design decisions are made strategically; this means thinking beyond your personal preferences and getting into the minds of your ideal audience. This also means thinking of how you want your brand to be perceived.

The downside is, this step can take a while to get right. Most professional brand design projects will take 4-8 weeks (or more) to complete. This is necessary when you’re diving into brand strategy to create a compelling brand identity – there are a lot of important steps involved in that process.

But you’re here because you don’t have that kind of time, right? That’s why I started offering a service called Brand Intensives!

This service takes a traditional branding package and pairs it down into a day’s worth of design work. By cutting out the deeper dive into strategy, the back-and-forth revisions, and presentations, we’re able to create a complete brand identity in just one day.

If you’re able to dedicate a couple hours to completing some prep work, and one day to participate in the Intensive, you’ll walk away with a new brand identity by the end of the day. This is a great option for business owners who need to launch fast, and fits really well into a 7-day launch plan.

Step 2: Strategize Your Launch

Now that you have a new brand identity, it’s time to plan your launch! As tempting as it is to start putting your new logos on anything and everything, resist the urge to completely revamp your entire brand aesthetic without a little warning first!

Take a few hours to plan and strategize how you’re going to launch your new branding – you can do this before your branding project is even finished if you want! Set a launch date, and start prepping your audience with announcements over the course of the week hinting that something new is coming.

Doing this will build up anticipation for your launch and get your audience excited, AND you won’t blindside them when you launch your new look!

How can you do this? Here are a few ideas to get you brainstorming:

  • Create on-brand countdown graphics and start sharing them 3-5 days before the launch
  • Share sneak peeks on your Instagram stories
  • Create an Instagram Reel hinting at what’s coming
  • Tease it to your subscribers in your email list
  • Set your website homepage to a “coming soon” page a day or two before the launch to hide any aesthetic changes

Step 3: Update Everything At Once

When the big launch day comes, make sure you plan to update everything AT THE SAME TIME. This includes all your social media channels, website, documents, etc. If it has your logo, fonts, or colors on it, update it.

Your branding should ALWAYS be consistent in ALL locations to avoid confusing your audience.

For example, let’s say your old logo was a romantic script font and your colors were feminine pastels, but your new logo is going to be more bold and modern with neutral colors.

Now, put yourself in a potential client’s shoes: they visit your Facebook page where you still have your old logo set as the profile photo, and all your graphics are in the pastel colors. Maybe they like what they see, so they click on your website, and it’s been updated with your new modern logos and neutral colors. What’s their thought process going to be like?

“Why doesn’t this look the same as the Facebook page?”

“Did the business change? Is it even the same business?”

“It’s pretty, but is this company still right for my needs?”

“I’m confused…”

*closes tab and finds another business to work with*

Don’t waste all that hard work you put into your new brand identity by accidentally turning away a potential client! Consistency is KEY.

Here’s a handy list of things to update when you’re ready to launch:

  • Website (logos, fonts, colors, favicon)
  • Social Media (profile/cover photos, highlight icons)
  • Email Signatures
  • Documents (legal docs, client guides, forms, etc.)
  • Business Cards
  • Signage (signs, banners, etc.)
  • Accounts (CRM, email, etc.)
  • Other Printed Items (packaging, apparel, merch, etc.)

Of course, some of these may take more time than others, and the list will be longer if you’re also changing your business name. But just keep these in mind, and remember to keep everything that the public can see consistent at all times.

Step 4: Make the Big Announcement

It’s time to show the world what you’ve been working on all week! But before that day arrives, make sure you plan out how you’re going to make the announcement. Will you post a carousel of graphics? An Instagram Reel? Will you go live on Facebook or Instagram to talk about the launch? Or keep it on Stories?

Planning ahead and writing your captions before launch day will save you time and energy, so you can spend the day celebrating instead of stressing about what to say!

Here are a few best practices for crafting your announcement posts:

  • When creating graphics, make sure your new logos look their best! Make sure they’re sized correctly, not blurry, and give your logos some breathing room! (i.e. bigger is not always better). If you have questions about how to use a logo I designed for you, just ask!

  • Introduce your new brand identity. Explain it, or tell a story about it. Don’t just post a few graphics with a boring/basic caption!

  • Share your “why.” What made you decide it was time for new brand identity? What does this mean for your business moving forward? How will this impact your customers?

  • Don’t forget to give your designer a shoutout 😉

Launch Schedule Example

To break it down even further, here’s a basic example of how you could schedule your 7-day plan. This example is for a Thursday launch one week after going through a Design Intensive. You can use this as a guideline, and make adjustments depending on when you want to launch and what marketing channels you use. Do what works for you!

Day 1: Post your First Teaser

Tease the launch on social media with a post hinting that something new is coming. Include the launch date so your audience knows when to expect it. If you haven’t already, spend today creating your launch plan, writing up captions, and designing some launch graphics in your new brand style. (Canva is a great tool for creating these! Make sure to follow your brand guidelines carefully).

Day 2: Start Making Website Updates

If this wasn’t already done during your Intensive, start updating your website with your new brand style. Change out ALL the colors, fonts, and logos. You can also post another teaser on social media if you want, or use Instagram Stories to share a behind-the-scenes peek at the work you’re doing.

Day 3: Post Another Teaser

If this day falls on a weekend, don’t be afraid to take it easy today! If you want, you can post another teaser either on your social media feed or in your Stories. (Ex. resting up before the big reveal).

Day 4: Start the Countdown

Three days until launch! Make your first countdown post on your feed. Talk about it on stories, and if you have an email list, send out an email giving them a sneak peek of what’s to come.

Day 5: Start Updating Internal Documents

Two more days! Make another countdown post on your feed today, then work on making updates to all internal items. Change out logos, colors, and fonts on things like documents, business cards, templates, etc. Just make sure to keep these changes hidden from your customers until launch day! Don’t forget to talk about the launch on Stories some more.

Day 6: Make Final Updates

One day to go! Post your final countdown post on your feed and talk about the launch again on Stories. Share more sneak peeks to get your audience excited. Then, make sure all final updates are complete on internal items and your website. Make sure everything’s ready for tomorrow.

Day 7: Launch Day!

Today’s the day! First thing in the morning, go through and make updates to anything public (i.e. changing out profile images or cover photos on social media). Publish your updated website, and immediately post your big announcement. Then spend the day celebrating with your audience! Stay active on Stories and talk about the launch, send out your announcement to your email list, and have fun!

Now, you’re ready to launch a beautiful new brand identity in just one week! If you follow this plan for your own launch, let me know how it helped! I’d love to celebrate with you!
